ORIGIN

Coriander originates from the Middle East, but was later grown in the Eastern Mediterranean, East Asia and North and South America. Its Latin scientific name is Coriandrum Sativum.

Like many spices, its origins date back to ancient times; coriander seeds were used as long ago as 6,000 BC and are mentioned in a passage of the Bible. The spice spread to Europe in the Middle Ages.
